Nestled within the enchanting landscapes of the South Downs, The Cafe at the Old Workshop is a delightful retreat for those seeking a relaxing dining experience surrounded by nature. Located at Sullington Manor Farm in Storrington, this charming café boasts an inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal stop for families, hikers, and anyone yearning for a sublime cup of coffee paired with exquisite homemade delights.

The café’s culinary offerings showcase a rich variety of rustic artisan cuisine, predominantly featuring locally sourced ingredients. Guests rave about the delectable sausage and haggis roll – fresh, warm, and perfectly seasoned. For those with a sweet tooth, the lime cheesecake proves to be a standout, with patrons enjoying every last crumb—which is quite a feat as many have left with an extra slice to savor later!

What sets The Cafe at the Old Workshop apart is not only its fantastic menu but the heartwarming service provided by its staff. Visitors have described the ladies working there as warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you step through the door. The café also shines in its inclusivity, offering multiple dairy-free and gluten-free options across its range, ensuring that everyone can find something to satisfy their cravings.

Experience the peaceful harmonies of laughter and clinking cups as families gather, children engage in fun activities, and friendly dogs lounge by their owners’ feet. It's a place where time feels like it slows down, allowing you to soak in the delightful atmosphere, whether you’re enjoying your coffee indoors amidst the rustic décor or taking in the beautiful countryside from the outdoor seating. Customer Carol Jones captured the essence of this haven by saying it’s a “real gem,” accentuating the charming staff and the delicious meals like the fennel, spinach, and feta pastry roll.

Though it's full of beauty and flavor, it's worth noting that the café's opening hours can be a bit unpredictable, often varying throughout the year. As quoted by a visitor, “it’s a lottery,” so it's always a good practice to call ahead to avoid disappointment. However, your adventure is sure to be worth the effort, as customer Yannis Sheldon aptly described it—a “wonderful hidden gem.”

In summary, The Cafe at the Old Workshop is not just about food; it’s about the experience, the environment, and the friendships forged over delicious meals. Make your way to this delightful destination and discover why its charm continues to enchant every visitor!

We love this place. Friendly service, great food and even some fun activities for the kids. Our only gripe is the totally random opening hours - it’s a lottery. Thursday-Sunday in theory but that’s totally variable during the year and the only way you’ll ever know is by calling in advance. Would be lovely if they had some times and just stuck to them

The cafe is in a beautiful setting with ample seating both inside and outside. The ladies were welcoming and friendly, with a good range of food and cakes available. There were also dairy free and gluten free options - not just one, but multiple options! The coffee is served in a cafetiere and is delicious. I had the sausage and haggis roll which was fresh, warm, and very tasty. A very delightful cafe, with great food and coffee. Highly recommend!

A hidden treasure especially if you are on your south downs adventure. Home made food in the grounds of a lovely farm house and a idyllic church and graveyard adjacent. The staff are pleasant too.

Beautifully restored barn set amongst the South Downs, this cafe is a real gem. Delicious lunches ( try the fennel, spinach and feta pastry roll) and cakes to die for! Charming staff too. Children and dog friendly too. We loved it.
